cap.ti.vat.ing (adj) – capable of attracting and holding interest; charming
As a woman, I’ve struggled with being confident and I never thought I was enough. I always felt like I was competing for attention and self worth. I looked at what everyone was doing and asked God, “Why can’t I be like them?”
There came a point when I entered college that I was hurting to be known. No, I didn’t enter the drug and alcohol world like most do when they step onto a college campus. I wanted to know my identity in Christ. I wanted to know what I was good at. I wanted to know that I was worthy to be sought after. By the second week of college, I got plugged into a community of amazing women who let me be myself. Through all the bad jokes I made and the acne that covered my face, these girls were gracious and loved me when I felt so unlovable.
Those friends reflected Christ to me. I was captivated by their honesty, love for Jesus, how they served others and their joy. Wow. They had joy – real joy. I loved who they were because they were so unique and just so cool in my eyes. They were talented in so many areas and I loved that about them.
Over the years I’ve learned from more and more women and have been just in awe of their confidence in Christ. I’ve seen talent in so many areas: writing, craftiness, photography, design, being a great mom, comedy, teaching, song writing, baking…the list could go on and on. They lived out the verse found in Romans 12:6 – In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. And they used their gifts well.
See here’s the thing: these women aren’t amazing and captivating because they know what to wear, how to put makeup on, or because they choose elite universities to graduate from. They are amazing and captivating because of a Royal King – Jesus. As He dwells in the hearts of many, His love, His grace, His personality soaks into the cracks of our lives and we become more like Him. John 15:5 says, “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” (NLT, added emphasis) We are nothing without Him. We cannot love well without Him. We cannot serve well without Him. We cannot be great moms, great wives or great friends without Him. We cannot be captivating without Him.
Vision Statement:
Inviting women to experience freedom and edification in their lives through scripture and honest conversations.
Our vision is rounded in the fact that through Christ we can find and hold onto freedom. “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” – Galatians 5:1. To continually live in freedom, we must dive into scripture to seek truth and to break the chains that we have placed on ourselves. Allowing ourselves to be vulnerable with the appropriate women in our lives will also help with the process of freedom.
Mission Statement:
Celebrating women and the Creator who intricately designed us.
When creating this site, I wanted it to be a hub where you could feel encouraged, inspired, and hear God’s voice in the all the noise that the world brings. I wanted this site to be published by real women who seek Jesus daily because they are nothing without Him. I wanted this site to showcase women who in the eyes of others are captivating. This world needs amazing role models and we hope that you will find many here.
We are not perfect here. We don’t have it all together. We are a group of women just wanting to know God more intimately. We want to learn new things and bounce ideas off each other. We are women who cry, ask God a bunch of questions, and struggle with different things. But we know our hope does come from the Lord. We know our gifts and talents come from the ultimate Creator. We know that in Him our identity is found and we can walk more confidently in this world.
